The school is a household name and brand people can trust. K9 Safety Consultants has trained private firms, law enforcement agencies, celebrities, athletes and the general public. K-9 Safety Consultants LLC was launched on January 29, 1985 by founder Flem Peacher V of Detroit, Michigan. He was inspired by a childhood tragedy after he was nearly mauled to death by a neighborhood dog. That experience left him devastated.  He never wanted to look, touch or go near a dog again. However, his father gave him advice that would change his perspective and become a turning point in Flem’s life. His father said to him, “If you want to overcome your fears, you’re going to have to face them.”

Hanging on to his father's words, Flem developed the drive and confidence to reintroduce himself to dogs again. Throughout his teenage years, he began to acclimate himself to the different personalities of several family pets. Everyone around him noticed his special gift with reading a dog’s behavior. They also noticed that he could train dogs to perform practically anything on command. Through experience, he began to develop what is known as the “K9 Safety Method.” This method has been proven and used all over the world to transform millions of dogs into model citizens.

The "K9 Safety Method” is designed to enhance the relationship and communication between dog owners and their furry friends. Flem believes under his method that “all dogs can learn.”  So he developed a program at K9 Safety Consultants called the No Dog Left Behind Program. As a behavioral specialist, he is considered a guru in the dog training industry, blazing many trails with his knowledge of canine behavior. Mr. Peacher has developed programs such as one with the Big 3 automakers (Ford, Chrysler, GM). There, he was approved to train thousands of UAW employees to become certified dog trainers.

Flem is also the author of the book, The Safe Route to Travel. He was also featured in the Who’s Who Book of America and the The Detroit News. Many refer to him as "Mr. P," but other trainers throughout the world refer to him as the Dr. Dolittle of dogs. And despite minor setbacks with his health, he manages to stay strong. He has the full confidence that his son, Flem Peacher VI, who he has been teaching since the age of 5, to take over as the new owner of K9 Safety Consultants will take K9 to higher levels.
